Our solution for Waste Management
From the beginning, we wanted to improve practices and procedures in the waste management sector. The main aspects we focused on were efficient waste management and minimizing the impact on the environment.
Our objective was to digitize the waste collection process to change the perspective on how it can be managed in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Thus, we developed a hardware and software solution for waste management.
For a more efficient management of collected waste, our team has developed a solution where the implementation of an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system for waste management can bring many benefits to both users and local authorities.
The basic principle of this system is simple: each bin/container is equipped with a personalized RFID tag associated with its waste management account. When the garbage truck collects, the RFID tag is read and the amount of discarded waste is recorded. The payment for waste management is determined according to the actual amount thrown away, according to the “you pay for what you throw away” principle.
"You pay for what you throw away”
Our team developed and implemented a solution that would make the work of sanitation companies more efficient, while at the same time bringing a method for citizens to pay only for the amount of waste they throw away, individually.
Through the Proxitech Solutions system, sanitation operators have access to a platform that generates reports and statistics on the amount of waste generated and collected at city, neighborhood, tenant association or citizen level.
Situations are revealed in real time regarding the amount of waste generated, the filling level of the containers, as well as the number of incidents generated in the collection process.
Currently, the solution developed by us is implemented nationally in more than five counties. The amount of waste is given following the RFID readings of the chips applied to the containers and bins of the waste generators, by the hardware system installed on the garbage trucks.
What is our system composed of?
- RFID reader
- RFID tag
- RFID antennas
- Trash management software
Within the collection system, both bins and garbage bags are equipped with an RFID (identification and data transmission method) identification element. This system is compatible with both new and old models of garbage trucks.
When collecting waste from a bin, the RFID tag code on the bin is identified by means of the RFID reader. Thus, information is generated about the volume of waste produced by each citizen. Information is transmitted and stored in the cloud in real time, and the data can be viewed and analyzed in the interface
What benefits does the solution we offer bring?
Personal responsibility: Citizens are motivated to become more aware of the amount of waste they generate and to adopt more responsible behaviors in terms of consumption and recycling.
Waste reduction: By associating costs with the amount thrown away, users are encouraged to reduce waste production and adopt more sustainable and environmentally friendly consumption practices.
Efficiency in collection: The RFID system allows real-time monitoring of the waste collection process. Thus, the collection schedule can be optimized and costs associated with inefficient or excessive collection can be avoided.
Real-time statistics: Thanks to the data collected through the RFID system, real-time statistics can be provided on the percentage of collection achieved from a planned collection day.
Equity in the distribution of costs: Paying for the quantity thrown away ensures a fair distribution of costs among citizens, depending on their actual consumption of resources and environmental impact.
